Abstract
Bright sunlight impairing the vision of a vehicle's driver is a problem every driver faces regularly. This paper describes an approach of how to solve this particular issue. Our goal is to design a system which reduces the blinding effects of bright sunlight to increase driving comfort and performance. A medium fidelity prototype, simulating incoming sunlight with a projector, darkening areas of the projection depending on the position of the user was built as part of our research. An initial user study shows that such a solution would be practical and convenient. However, an improvement of driving performance could not be observed.
