A loglinear model approach for evaluating and adopting log and lumber grading strategies

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A loglinear model is presented that describes the connection between log quality parameters and the quality of the sawn lumber. It was determined, using this model, that the grading of larch logs can be adapted to obtain a more target-oriented grading result. With the loglinear model, it will be possible to evaluate and adopt regional and national log grading rules according to recent and future demands of sawmills and their customers. ©Forest Products Society 2005.
