Project resource planning with AI

Project: Contract research

Project Details

Description

Project management is typically characterized by high complexity and routine work. Despite continuous improvements in planning methods, project managers reach their limits when a certain level of complexity is exceeded. Artificial intelligence (AI) in project management has the potential to significantly relieve project managers by, for example, enabling early detection of potential project delays, efficient resource management, and evidence-based decision-making. AI's ability to analyze large amounts of data in fractions of a second while drawing on experience highlights its potential. By freeing up capacity in project management through AI, these resources can be utilized more value-creating in other areas.

For applications in project management, algorithms from machine learning (deep learning) and natural language processing (NLP) are particularly relevant. The main contribution of Salzburg University of Applied Sciences lies in providing expertise and best practices in the field of artificial intelligence, especially in deep learning and NLP. Additionally, the university will develop three prototype AI models, specifically designed to focus on factors in projects that humans (e.g., project managers) cannot easily identify. These models are intended to evaluate project data over time or uncover hidden patterns that may lead to project delays.
