Collaborative robotics in the dental practice

Project: Contract research

Project Details

Description

Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing: While most things are digitalized in the waiting room, many things are still done manually in the treatment room. However, dental processes are increasingly becoming the focus of automation.

On the one hand, this is due to increasing centralization - more and more dental treatments are taking place in clinics or medical care centers. On the other hand, patients want the greatest possible flexibility at the lowest possible cost. Solutions from the field of collaborative robotics will therefore optimize processes in hospitals, clinics and dentists in the future.

Mobile robotic arm for medical applications

The aim of the InnoDent project is to evaluate a mobile or semi-mobile robot platform with a collaborative robot arm for medical applications, in particular for use in a dental practice.

Various mobile robot platforms and collaborative robot arms are technologically available for the task. A research-based idea study is now to be carried out in the project, in which the preliminary work for the technological problem-solving of dental processes is to be investigated.
