Research interests

Daniela Huber earned her Bachelor of Science in 2009 from Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. She subsequently completed a Master of Science in Sports Physiotherapy at the University of Salzburg, a Master of Arts in Management of Health and Social Care Institutions (TU Kaiserslautern / Witten-Herdecke), and a PhD in Medical Sciences at Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg. Her doctoral research focused on “Effects of alpine movement on gait and balance in older adults.”

Following clinical work in Tyrol and Salzburg, as well as running her own physiotherapy practice, she has been working since 2014 as a lecturer and researcher in the Physiotherapy program and the Department of Health Sciences at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. She is part of the research group “Advances in Resilient Health Systems and Health Education,” with key areas including environmental physiotherapy, interdisciplinary patient care, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. In parallel, she has worked as a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Ecomedicine at Paracelsus Medical University, where she also supervised doctoral candidates and contributed to international research projects.

Her scientific work focuses, among other areas, on nature-based interventions and their effects on the human body. She has been involved in numerous projects on sustainable healthcare and received the Paracelsus Science Award in Silver for her research. Alongside her academic teaching and research activities, she serves as a reviewer for international journals, is a member of the Environmental Physiotherapy Association, and participates in the Institutional Ethics Committee of Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Her work combines clinical expertise, scientific excellence, and commitment to health education, always with the goal of promoting both human and planetary health in an integrated way.
